Pierre Guillaume 20.1 Sorong Eau de Parfum 50 ml is a unisex leathery fragrance. Among all materials, incense is undoubtedly the one that most fascinates perfumers, due to its history and the religious symbols associated with it. Its woody, mineral, and slightly spicy scent gives a mystical dimension, a sacred aspect to any composition. In ancient times, it was considered more precious than gold, and the incense routes from the Arab kingdoms to the gates of Indonesia contributed to the fortune of entire civilizations. In 2009, I composed a fresh vegetal incense in which the animality of agarwood responded to the bitterness of cinchona bark. I called it ''L'eau Guerriere'' (Warrior Water), recalling that ancient divinatory ceremonies based on incense were often used to predict the outcome of military maneuvers... Ten years later, here I am again on the path of incense, starting from an extraordinary material inspired by the burning fumes of Indonesian oud chips: Kyara Wood.''- THE FRAGRANCE: At once mineral and burning in its scent, 20.1 Sorong Eau de Parfum 50 ml is an ''animalized smoke,'' and blending it with incense resin seemed obvious to me. Benzoin, Cistus, Elemi, Fenugreek, Cypress, Guaiac, Iris, Labdanum, Patchouli, Tonka Bean, Ginger, and Nagarmotha, 12 natural raw materials were the tools of this union. To set in motion and give an olfactory trail to the woody-ambery and spicy ''cocoon'' thus created, it took the power of a propellant based on citrus, saffron, and blackcurrant. The mystical and almost magical nature of one responds to the technological nature of the other. Sorong is both vibrant and monolithic. If it seems to possess the power and brilliance of a laser, it paradoxically gives chi the wearer the sensation of being protected by an aura, an invisible and protective force. Sorong is a talisman, its sillage an olfactory armor.- THE NAME: The city of SORONG is a seaport in Indonesia that was involved in the incense trade with Oman.
