Iris occupies a precious position in the world of perfumery: its prices rise above gold and its singular aroma cannot be experienced until six years after planting. In Aedes de Venustas Iris Nazarena Eau de Parfum, the rare floral root is reborn. It is nestled in conversation with incense, resulting in a mysterious and sensual accord of iris and incense that drives this deeply captivating scent. Iris Nazarene is named after the rare species Iris Bismarckiana, also known as Iris Nazarena because it grows mainly in the mountains east of Nazareth. The haunting beauty of the flower, with its brown or purple spots and delicate blue-purple veins, seduced Karl Bradl as soon as he discovered it on a postcard. He became the muse of the second perfume Aedes de Venustas, launched in 2013. The flower itself does not give off a scent. Most irises don't have any. Instead, it is the root, or rhizome, that has become an object of veneration in perfumery. To transform it into aromatic material, the flower must grow for three years before being uprooted. It is then left to dry for another three years before developing its characteristic note, a mix of dust, wood and violet. It is then ground and distilled. Only after this process, which requires a lot of time and labor, is the majestic iris resurrected. A journey that reflects the history of the land where the Nazarene Iris grows. The soft, suede petals of the mystical iris muse are outlined in a subtle shade of brown, purple and white. Ambrette diffuses the tender light of dawn across the top notes, rose adds a touch of floral sensuality, and the fresh, lively green of star anise evokes the flower's stylized stems and leaves. Resinous juniper berries, patchouli and vetiver allude to its roots, stuck in the earth and dark rock, while the sacred smoke rising from the altars weaves its mineral, leather-scented tendrils throughout the development with cloves, oud and incense .
