ARGOS FRAGRANCES Danae EDP 100 ml Danaë is an oil painting by Gustav Klimt, created in 1907. An example of symbolism, Danaë was a popular subject at the beginning of the 1900s for many artists; she was used as the ultimate symbol of divine love and transcendence. Legend tells that while she was imprisoned by her father Acrisius, king of Argos, in a bronze tower, Danaë received the visit of Zeus (Jupiter for the Romans), here symbolized by the golden rain flowing between her legs. From the subject’s face it is evident that she is aroused by the stream of gold. In this work, she is wrapped in a veil of royal purple referring to her imperial lineage. Some time after her celestial visitation, she gave birth to a son, Perseus, who is later mentioned in Greek mythology for having slain the Gorgon Medusa and saved Andromeda.
