The indigenous people who inhabited these islands used the oil extracted from the seeds on their bodies, faces, and hair to protect themselves from the sun, heat, salt water, and insects. Ligne St Barth was inspired by this tradition and conducted scientific research on the properties of oil derived from Roucou seeds. These studies highlighted the presence of Provitamin A, which stimulates the natural production of melanin, a pigment in the basal cells of the epidermis that is essential in the tanning process.
