Tension, disorientation, penetrating smells, strong colors and a mix of Latin and Asian cultures are just some of the sensations with a disarming force that Chong tries to describe during a walk in the Lower East Side, in front of the discovery of artistic communities that in that iconic era, lived on the margins of society.

Imitation is life and art at the same time: an olfactory journey into the “city that never sleeps”, born of contradictions and dominated by uncertainty.

Imitation Man by Amouage opens with a leather chypre accord, dove cedar and a mix of spices, followed by violet, iris and a velvety and vinyl accord, symbol of the frenetic mood of those years. All crowned by leather and vetiver which, together with patchouli and myrrh, highlight an era in continuous artistic ferment, an era devoted to excess and transgression.
