St. Barth Islander Eau de Parfum for Men 100 ml

Inspired by the story of Bay Rum: a tale of men and fragrances. In the 16th century, sailors discovered the leaves of the West Indian Bay tree, called Pimenta racemosa, a small tree native to the West Indies, also known as Bay St Thomas. When rubbed on the skin, its dried leaves release a highly fragrant oil: an excellent way to refresh and scent oneself... While Caribbean farmers shipped sugar to Europe, some enterprising slaves discovered on these very same sugar cane plantations that fermented molasses (a byproduct of sugar) could be turned into a sweet alcoholic beverage. Brewers then adopted the original recipe, distilling it to intensify its alcohol content, thus creating the famous rum. Later, an ingenious sailor from the Virgin Islands had the idea to infuse the leaves and extract their essential oils. Bay rum was born. The islanders gradually added spices, citrus peels, cinnamon, and more to this concoction to suit their tastes, and soon it became part of pampering rituals such as massages or after shaving. Created in the West Indies, this fragrance achieved great success worldwide. Initially in vogue in New York among American barbers and very popular among men, it was even introduced to the royal courts of Europe. Even today, bay rum is highly appreciated by the inhabitants of the Caribbean islands (from Bermuda to the Bahamas, from Barbados to the Virgin Islands). Ligne St Barth has sought to preserve this splendid Caribbean tradition by adding a touch of modernity to create an authentic fragrance: thus Islander Eau de Parfum was born. The top notes have been preserved (lime, vetiver, West Indian bay leaves combined with an old Martinique rum), with the addition of Guatemalan cardamom, the queen of spices. The base notes reveal Caribbean guaiac wood, Tabacum Havana, and Cedrus atlantica.
